NEW MADRID is a band from Athens, GA. They've spent the last 4 years releasing 2 full-length records, 2 EPs and playing 350+ tour dates across the USA and Canada. Their music mixes elements of post-punk, psych, pop, and grunge, all with a southern sensibility. Both live and on record, the band plays music that is textured, complex and dynamic.

Their acclaimed 2012 independent debut, Yardboat - engineered by David Barbe (Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers) at Chase Park Transduction- displayed the band's inherent talents, introducing a distinctive sound budding with sonic energy. In their music mecca hometown, Yardboat garnered "2013 Album of the Year," and the band's formula of consistent touring and creative restlessness earned them "Artist of the Year" at the Flagpole Music Awards in both 2013 and 2014. In the summer of 2013, New Madrid signed to New West Records imprint, Normaltown Records, and entered the studio to record what would become Sunswimmer. Their second full-length, recorded during a unusually cool, wet July (again by David Barbe) - found New Madrid further exploring depths of psychedelia and textured noise.

April 2015 saw the release of a Live EP, Dawn Teeth Rattling, exclusively on vinyl for Record Store Day 2015.  Once again recorded by David Barbe - on a late Summer '14 West Coast stretch of shows, the EP is a mixture of songs off the bands' first two records. In January 2016, the band will embark on their first European tour - across Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, UK, France, and Germany. New Madrid's 3rd full-length release is due out in 2016 via Normaltown Records.
